I am Accepted Because I am Justified

Romans 5:1 – “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Our sins have condemned us, and the punishment we deserve is death. We turned against our Creator and rebelled against Him, choosing our own way instead of His. The Bible makes it clear that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Imagine creating something with love, to care for and enjoy, but it chose to do the opposite of what it was made for. You would likely throw it away.

But God did not throw us away. Instead, because of His great love (Ephesians 2), He sent His perfect and sinless Son to die in our place. Jesus took upon Himself the death penalty we deserved. On the cross, He bore our punishment, satisfying the justice of God while revealing the depth of His mercy.

Because He paid the penalty, we are justified—declared righteous before God. This justification is not based on our good works, moral excellence, or religious deeds. It is only through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Every one of us has sinned, and every one of us needs God’s justice to be satisfied.

If you are putting your faith in Christ’s death and resurrection, then you are justified. Your sins cannot be credited to your account because Jesus already paid them. But if you are not trusting in Him, you are not justified and remain under the penalty of sin. Today, thank Jesus for His sacrifice on your behalf. And when the enemy of your soul tries to condemn you, remind him—and yourself—that Jesus paid it all.

I am justified because God loves me, and He considers my life worth saving.

Reflection: Do you live with the peace of knowing you are justified by faith, or do you still try to earn God’s acceptance through your own works?

Prayer: Father, thank You for sending Jesus to take the punishment I deserved. Thank You that by faith I am justified and have peace with You. Help me to rest in Your finished work and to walk in the freedom of knowing that I am fully accepted in Christ. Amen.
